How did you make yourself happy this week?
My sister and I made valentine cookies for a party. Very few people came for a variety of reasons, but we still had a good time, and it was fun making cookies. Now back to my diet for 4 weeks!
All the protests and political engagement — knowing that people are being the “somebody” to do things — is making me happy this week.
Other happies: The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and a neighbor who snow-blows my driveway after blizzards.
My aunt and uncle (married to each other) who were in the hospital for various reasons and who I thought we were going to lose, leading to a double funeral this week, both have rallied and are going to pull through! My aunt has already been released to an assisted living home, I believe, and my uncle should be joining her on Monday.
I’ll be able to take my vacation as planned this week. Going to Mexico even though they are rightly pissed at the US. Praying for sunshine, fun, and rest.
Great ski this am, despite slipping off the trail and and down an icy bank to the river. Another skier hopped down to help me get my skis off, so I could get up and back to skiing. Even though it’s really busy at work, I managed to walk the stairs (196 steps) almost every day. Found a pair of cool boots on sale – got to the cash and they were half off the sale price. Score! Snow storm predicted so will be cocooning inside this afternoon.
Sunshine!!!! Well, it will probably rain again later but SUNSHINE!
I’ve been getting back into my fiction project, shelved for more than eighteen months. I’m following ideas and world-building and having fun. Trespassed into the ruins of a house and garden and took loads of pictures.
This weekend has been sociable: met some interesting people at the seminar on the town’s Iron Age hillfort yesterday, and again at the Hillfort Hug today (part of a campaign to protest against building housing estates near the fort). Then an old friend came for a meal.
My pots of crocuses and hellebores on the balcony are coming into flower.
Gave away *bags* of clothes stored for charity pickup. People, I am able to sweep my closet floor. Not normally an ambition, but hey.
Helped weed and prune our volunteer-supported public historic rose garden just in time. Rain-supported weeds had about taken over. “Devoniensis” is in full bloom, gorgeous, picturesque, perfumed.
Received from a friend, a gifted professional photographer, the gift of a packet of note cards bearing her atmospheric photos of our national parks.
Husband and I just got back from spending the weekend with my daughter, son-in-law and 1.5 week old grand-daughter. Many snuggles and cuddles. And I’ll be going back in two weeks to spend an entire week with her…and helping out the new Mom!
I finally jumped in to a new art that I have been fascinated by… And dropped a beginner ceramics class that I wasn’t enjoying. Now I’m teaching myself something new that I already love.
