Krissie: Make it Wednesday

I’m switching over to Make it Wednesday (though you’ll still put stuff in the Make it Tuesday file because why mess with a file name? Let’s see what we’ve got today.
Looks like Kate George has been making books. The covers look fun and fabulous!

For some reason the third one isn’t working — it’s coming across as a small file. Anyway, well done, Kate!

I’m going to spend some time cleaning and sewing. maybe quilting in particular. I have two baby quilts ready to sandwich and quilt (for those who don’t quilt, it means put the backing, the filling and the top together and pin it or baste it) and then quilt and bind them. Babies are coming in a couple of weeks or so.

Then I’ve got some more baby quilts to make, because I love babies. And I have to Unfuck my Habitat. Maybe I’ll work on that on Thursdays.

But let me tell you about Barbara Samuel. She’s working so hard she’s overwhelmed, and she felt she had to blog every Wednesday. Needless to say, she’s been a wonderful voice for moving our bodies, and I asked her to just throw something up anytime the spirit moved her, but not to feel any pressure, and she was good with that. No one worries about two entries in one day, especially because I can be so chatty and I have shit to work through.

Same with Thursday. Toni’s so busy with her fabulous N.O. project that she can’t post every week, but I’ve decided, in her honor, that I’ll have Unfuck Thursdays (or Declutter/Repurpose Thursdays if you aren’t fond of the F bomb). So I’ll take a before and after picture and put it up. In fact, we might have a dropbox folder for that too, if anyone else wants to play the game.

I’ve still got a lot of thinking to do. I’ll do some computer work, some sewing work, some cleaning work while I think. Not sure what I’ll come up with but I don’t want to feel pressured into jumping through hoops.

So … I think I’ll head up to the sewing area for a little r & r, and next week I’ll show off my finished quilts (not to mention my new sewing area).

I love the covers Kate. Have fun with the quilts Krissie. If you’re like me, sewing will relax you. I finished a baby blanket this weekend for a pregnant friend. Can’t wait to give it to her tomorrow.

  2. I love the covers too. And I’ve read the books, so I know the insides rock!

Do you need someone else to help with the blogging, Krissie? I could talk about the path to publication, if that would help. (Or, you know, how to turn people into toads.)

    • How to turn people into toads would be very helpful. In fact, that’s much better than being a terminator.
Problem is, I know enough about Wicca to know that any bad energy you send out comes back to you. And I’d rather not be a toad.
Though I’d be a magnificent one.

I think that would be a wonderful idea. I know a few people I want to turn into toads.
Actually, I have always been interested in Wicca and have studied a bit. There is always more to learn.

  3. Speaking of “thinking,” there was a link on lifehacker yesterday about how Bill Gates took a “think week” every once in a while. Think of it as a week-long Artist’s Date. We could all probably benefit from something like that.

The lifehacker piece tracked back to this article (which is brief; I was hoping for something more substantive, but this seemed to be the end of the line):

Love the covers! As for the bloggers, every time I read the posts I find myself wondering how people have time to compose them. The kind of wise and entertaining writing that the ReFabbers contribute does not come easily.

Enjoy the sewing! I’m working on a quilt for my grandson, and I’m rediscovering the sheer joy of combining strips of fabric into bright, cheerful new patterns. Sometimes I forget how much fun that is.

I’ve loved Kate’s books, too! I hope she keeps “making” them…

And, I’d totally contribute a photo or two of the disaster that is my house, to make everyone else feel great about their own clutter – so yes, please, a dropbox for that. (My DH’s office is good for nothing if not perspective. In divorce proceedings, it would end all discussion and his legal team would cave and give me anything I asked for. Srsly.)

  6. Pretty covers. Good luck with the books!

There will be no unfucking of my habitat until April 1. I’m deep DEEP in deadline hell. And I’m spending the five days before my deadline at Disney World (not the best planning on my part) so, um, what day is it again?

Did I mention I’m also puppysitting my cousin’s new 8 week old puppy? Because I’m INSANE like that.

So, we can look forward to Unfucking Thursdays from now on? Super. If I could set myself a day to unfuck the habitat, I’d probably be way better off. 😉

    I like it.

Kate, I love those covers! Both of them are so cute and really go with your books/style/genre, whatever. Good work!
